A reluctant detective, a criminal mastermind, and . . . sugar?

Amanda Lester wouldn’t be caught dead going into the family business. Her ancestor, Sherlock Holmes’s colleague Inspector G. Lestrade, is a twit. Nevertheless her parents refuse to see his flaws, and she’s going to a secret English school for the descendants of famous detectives whether she likes it or not.

When Amanda arrives at the dreaded school, she considers running away—until she and her new friends discover blood and weird pink substances in odd places. At first they’re not sure whether these seeming clues mean anything, but when Amanda’s father disappears and the cook is found dead with her head in a bag of sugar, they’re certain that crimes are taking place.

Now Amanda must embrace her destiny and uncover the truth. The only snag is that arch-villain Blixus Moriarty, a descendant of Holmes’s nemesis Professor James Moriarty, might be involved, and he doesn’t like nosy little girls interfering in his business.

Can the detectives keep the bad guys from learning the crystals' secrets? It would help if they could figure out who the dead body is too. Only if Amanda and Holmes can find a way to work together can they prevent a disaster, and it isn't looking good

Paula BerinsteintAbout the Author:
Paula Berinstein is nothing like Amanda. For one thing, she's crazy about Sherlock Holmes. For another, she’s never wanted to be a filmmaker. In addition, compared to Amanda she’s a big chicken! And she wouldn't mind going to a secret school at all. In fact, she's hoping that some day she'll get to build one.

My reviews;
Amanda Lester and The Pink Sugar Conspiracy
I fell in love with the character Amanda Lester from the very first page. Amanda really should be a  detective, after all her whole family before her have been famous detectives and people who fight criminals, and it runs in her blood. The problem is that she doesn't want to be a detective and she doesn't want anything to do with solving crimes. She wants to just be a film maker. Her parents have decided to send her to a secret detective school. They have sent her to the UK and she is unhappy about it. When she gets there she is faced with a project that makes little sense. As she starts to write her report she starts to figure out what is happening and she realizes that she just might like to be a detective after all. I give this book a 5/5. I cannot wait until my granddaughter gets a little older so that she can read this. I know that she will love it. I was given this book for a review and all opinions  are mine.

Amanda Lester and The Orange Crystal Crisis
The author has proven in Book # 2 that this is going to be a  great series. I loved this one, too! Amanda Lester is going to become a teenager in this book as she turns 13. Last year she did really well in school. But this year she has to work with a descendant of Sherlock Holmes and his name is Scapulus Holmes. Everyone wishes that they were her. She really does not like him at all. A body is found with mysterious crystals living on it and they have to figure out what it means. But, there is someone else trying to get the crystals from them. The race is on. Will they be able to figure out what these are before they disappear? It is getting very dangerous. I give this book a 5/5. I was given this book for a review and all opinions are mine.
