Easter is only a week away! Mommy has earned enough points to get a free turkey at SHOP RITE. Mommy's little sister dealsharingaunt@blogspot.net earned enough to get a free ham. So we are having a ham and a turkey for free!! Dealsharingaunt@blogspot.net bought a 50 pound of potatoes a few weeks ago. They are all about the same large size. We will be having a baked potato bar something we have had before. We will put out all different things so that people can build their own . Sour cream, chives, butter, melted cheddar, broccoli and more. Then we we will have a salad and dessert.
For the last few birthdays we have been buying Italian rum cakes at our local Italian bakery. I really want to try to make my own. Pudding and all. I'll let you know about my progress and how it comes out. I really love holiday baking.

I have not been able to post for a few days because I have been sick with bronchitis. I had pneumonia twice last year at this time and once the year before. It's funny because I hardly ever got sick before Poppie died. I think that when you have a family member who is sick or having a hard time that all your energy is devoted to helping that person.

I have decided that I am going to refrain from reading the daily paper. All it seems to say is bad things, depressing things and is sometimes enough to make someone sick.

I am tired of reading all about how schools need more money, teachers should get more money. They seem to forget the most important person in all of this. Our children. It shouldn't be whether they get a 3% or a 5 % raise. it shouldn't be so important that they will fight for months so that they will not have to pay a little more for health insurance.

So many of the children that they are supposedly there for have no insurance at all. Some have no roof over their heads or meals to eat. Shouldn't that be what is written in the news? We have been hearing about and reading about for weeks what one town in our state has been doing to our children. I call them our children because we should treat each child as if they were our own. How dare anyone especially a person we trust to protect our children do just the opposite!

I was elected and sat on the our local Board of Education a few years ago because I wanted to do my part to help all children. I had to refuse to run after 4 years because the stress was just too much. I used to suffer for days after a meeting with migraines because I cared too much. So, this is where I am going with this. I thought that after my children were grown that I could sit back and relax. Not! After all the things I have read I have decided that I need to get involved again. I will do all I can to insure that all our children are safe. which by the way was my reason for getting involved in politics over 20 years ago. I hope that my children do the same and teach my grandchildren to help protect and help each child to reach their full potential. I have decided to start today!!

I did something really cool today. While on Facebook saw that BJ'S WHOLESALE CLUB has a coupon you can download for a free 60 day trial. Believe me I went there before and they have great products. They even have a deli! Then to put icing on the cake they take coupons. What could be better? Definitely worth a try !

Last week Mommy, Sissy and me spent every morning while Bobo was in school shopping at STOP AND SHOP ! The week before we shopped at SHOP RITE because they had the best deals. This past week we were able to do the frozen food catalina and roll it about 3 times. With the coupons we had we were able to finally fill some of our empty freezer space from our last 2 storms. This winter has been one of the worst I can remember. Not only did we lose all of our food once but twice! March being frozen food month was the best thing that happened to us. It was a lot of work, don't let anyone kid you. In order to save money on groceries with coupons you need to have a plan BEFORE you set food in the store. Mommy and I went through our coupons and figured out what we really needed and what we had coupons for. The first time we went they were out of a lot of the items we wanted. Thank goodness we had a plan 2!

The only thing wrong is that we all got exhausted from running around. Hopefully this week coming we can rest a little. Nana

Well it has happened, Sissy has found out that there is a full length SNOW WHITE movie and she wants to watch it over and over . Bobo does not agree and summed it up like this "Snow White went to sleep , the Prince kissed her and put her on a horse. The end."
He wants to watch TOY STORY. So, Daddy went to get more movies. He went , guess where? to GOOD WILL and bought 10 DISNEY tapes for $20. Now they have a new card and if you spend $20 you get 5% off! Now that's saving money. He got PINOCCHIO, CINDERELLA and more. All for the cost of just about one DISNEY MOVIE. I guess Daddy's hooked too and I asked us not to send him there again.
It is hard for me to believe that parents still spend hundreds of dollars on DISNEY MOVIES. It is ridiculous!!!

So I went to SHOP RITE and the Catalina spit out of the machine. The price of the 14 oz JOY DISHWASHING LIQUID was $1.15 a little higher than I thought, but I bought 4 bottles and I got a $3.00 Catalina to use on my next order! While I was there I also did the MUNCH MANIA special. It was if you spend $25 in participating products, like KRAFT, HERSHEY'S, NABISCO and a few more. Then you get 4 Catalina's good for the next 4 weeks on your purchase of these same brands for $5 each week.
I bought 5 KRAFT FRESH TAKES at $2.50 each. 3 PHILADELPHIA MILK BITES for $3.49 each and 3 KRAFT COOKING CREME at $2.50 each. The total was $26.98. I received 4 Catalina's at a total of $20. Then I got a $4.00 one for buying 5 Kraft items. I had a $1 coupon for each item. So I had a total of $26.98-$11.00 in coupons. I got $20 plus $5 back in Catalina's for future purchases. So I really ended up actually $15.98 out of pocket and $25 back. A pretty good deal !!

There are a lot of ways to save money on groceries and one of my favorites are called Catalinas. This is when a company puts out a statement that if you buy a certain item or items that are covered in their deal then you will get a Catalina back to use on your next shopping order at that store. Usually it will be on any groceries you buy and are good for a week or so.
The reason I am saying this is because the past few weeks "SHOP RITE " has been having awesome deals. I have been doing research and one of the ones I cannot wait to try is buy 4 of the Joy Dishwashing 14 oz liquid on sale for $.99 each. When you buy these a Catalina will spit out of the machine for $3.00. This means (if it works) that they will actually be only 24 cents each. I can tell you right now I will be doing this more than once if it works. Soap products and paper products are one of the best things to stockpile. It is really a great feeling to know when you run out of one of these you just go to wherever you keep yours and grab one. The best thing of all is how cheap it really was. So in the next few days I will try it and let everyone know.

I am sure that everyone Mom, Dad, Grandmother, Grandfather Aunts, Uncles, and anyone else who has the greatest treasure. The gift of loving children in your life. Today was the first time that we really had some snow and I was determined to surprise Bobo and Sissy by waking them up with a snowball. This morning I got up early and went to their house. I first tried to wake up Sissy but she told me to go away and it was too cold, and she went back to sleep.
I went in Bobo's room and he was still asleep. too. All kids are sooo beautiful when they sleep and I could just sit there and watch them all day. I went over to him and lightly touched his hand with the snowball. He looked at me very sleepy but jumped up and said we got snow! He yelled for Sissy, his favorite sister, and she came running. They were racing to see who could get dressed the fastest. They ran and grabbed a bite of breakfast and ran to the door. They couldn't wait to get dressed, scarfs, hats, gloves and pulled Mommy and I outside.
We played for a little while in the snow and then got in the car to go to school. They both wanted to take a snowball with them. After a few minutes, Sissy, who is always the perfect little princess, said hers was getting her wet with drops so she let it fall on the floor of the car. Bobo took his into school to show his friends. The snowball started to melt, big surprise, so his teacher put in a bowl, we learned after he got home. But, he came out of school with a sandwich baggie in his hand. You guessed it, it was his snowball all melted. Just like he melted our hearts today with his lesson to all of us. We should all stop and enjoy what we have. We are always running around but we never really get anywhere. I for one am going to do what Bobo taught us today. You can be happy all day with just a snowball!
