Phoebe"s Light by Suzanne Woods Fisher Book Tour and Book Review

About

"Not today. I will not worry today."
Phoebe Starbuck has always taken care of her father--worrying enough for both of them, as he chases one whim after another. Now, for the first time, she's doing what she wants to do: marrying Captain Phineas Foulger and sailing far away from Nantucket. As she leaves on her grand adventure, she takes two gifts from her father, but desires only one: her great-grandmother's journal. The second gift? A "minder" in the form of cooper Matthew Macy, a man she loathes.

Phoebe soon discovers that life at sea is no easier than life on land. Lonely, seasick, and disillusioned, she turns the pages of Great Mary's journal and finds a secret that carries repercussions for everyone aboard the ship, especially the captain and the cooper.

Sail away with expert navigator Suzanne Woods Fisher, who confidently explores the sometimes treacherous shores of Quaker life on the storied Nantucket Island.

RT Book Reviews

My review.

I love all of the books that I have read by author Suzanne Woods Fisher. Phoebe's Light is no exception. This is the story about a young woman who wants to make her own choices in her life. She has decided to marry who she wants and move away and be with him in Nantucket. . But, sometimes it is not always a good decision. She is ill and all alone on her trip. Women have always been strong and resilient and this story is a reminder of that. This is a wonderful historical romance. I give this book a 5/5. I was given this book by Revell Publishing and these are my opinions.

Clowders by Vanessa Morgan Book Tour & Giveaway

Clowders
by Vanessa Morgan
Genre: Horror, Suspense

Clervaux, Luxembourg. This secluded, picturesque town in the middle of Europe is home to more cats than people. For years, tourists have flocked to this place – also known as “cat haven” - to meet the cats and buy cat-related souvenirs.

When
Aidan, Jess and their five-year-old daughter, Eleonore, move from America to Clervaux, it seems as if they've arrived in paradise. It soon becomes evident, though, that the inhabitants' adoration of their cats is unhealthy. According to a local legend, each time a cat dies, nine human lives are taken as a punishment. To tourists, these tales are supernatural folklore, created to frighten children on cold winter nights. But for the inhabitants of Clervaux, the danger is horrifyingly real.

Initially, Aidan and Jess regard this as local superstition, but when Jess runs over a cat after a night on the town, people start dying, one by one, and each time it happens, a clowder of cats can be seen roaming the premises.

Are they falling victim to the collective paranoia infecting the entire town? Or is something unspeakably evil waiting for them?

Their move to Europe may just have been the worst decision they ever made.

Vanessa Morgan is known as the “female version of Stephen King.” Three of her works (The Strangers Outside, Next to Her, A Good Man) have become movies. When she's not working on her latest book, you can find her watching horror movies, digging through flea markets, or photographing felines for her blog Traveling Cats (http://travelling-cats.blogspot.com).

Can one woman's prayers change the world?
Hannah and her husband, Elkanah, share a deep and abiding love for each other, for their God, and for His tabernacle at Shiloh. Pressured by his family to take another wife, Elkanah marries Peninnah, who quickly begins to bear children. Disgraced and taunted by her husband's new wife, Hannah turns again to prayers that seem doomed to go unanswered. Do her devotion and kindness in the face of Peninnah's cruelty count for nothing? Will God remain silent and indifferent to her pleas?

Travel back to the dusty streets of Shiloh with an expert guide as Jill Eileen Smith brings to life a beloved story of hope, patience, and deliverance that shows that even the most broken of relationships can be restored.

My review

"A Passionate Hope"  by author Jill Ellen Smith is a story about a woman and what she goes through in her life. Hannah has to bear the truth that she is unable to have children. This makes her husband take another wife to get the children he desires. She is treated horribly by his new wife and she begins to lose all hope. Why is God doing this to her? Why won't he listen to her begging? What is going to happen to her? This is the kind of story that will let you know what it was like to live in a time where women were not in charge of their future. I give this book a 4/5. I was given this book by Revell Publishing and all opinions are mine.

Black Ruins Blood
The Elder Series Book 2
by Karen DuBose
Genre: Dark Fantasy

I thought coming to the Black Ruins Forest would give me the answers to the questions I so desperately needed. Instead I have more questions and no answers.

Now here I am trying to figure out how to destroy the oldest and strongest dragons who are the Elders to become the next ruler of Zilo. No problem, right? Yeah, not as easy as it sounds.

The forest will only keep us a safe for so long before the Elders find out where we are. If they find us, we are all dead. So, here we sit trying to figure out a way to make it through alive.

The best part out of all of this I've gained a huge family I never knew I wanted and the worst part is now I have more enemies I never even knew existed. Around every turn there is something or someone else we need to deal with.
Fate really hates me! She twisted my lifecycle apart and spit me out. I will never be the same person again. That's what scares me the most.
