Not Guilty by Teresa Pollard and Candi Pullen

Not Guilty by Teresa Pollard and Candi Pullen is a story that is difficult to talk and think about but it is one that we must think and talk about. A young girl Carrie Shepherd has been raped and she has no idea who did this to her. She is the daughter of the minister at Windspree Community Church. Carrie is a college senior who wants to go to Africa to be a missionary. Carrie tells no one that she has been raped until she finds out that she is pregnant by her attacker. How will she ever find the courage to tell her fiance, her family, her friends, but most of all she has to to face and tell her father's congregation that is angry with her. The horrible thing is that her attacker might be right in that angry, gossiping group! How will Carrie be able to face the ones that want to tear her church and her family apart? These people are full of secrets, are noticeably silent, and they are treating her with shame even though it was not her fault.
Carrie has refused to have an abortion so she must get through all of this hatred. This is a timeless story that talks about people that come to conclusions and make up their minds without knowing all of the facts. It is also a story of people that like to cast judgement. Through it all she has the support of her fiance, Joe, who still, in spite of it all marries her anyway.  It was interesting to see how each person in this story dealt with Carrie's pregnancy and how they felt when all of the facts came out.
This is a thought provoking book, one that I am sure will have every single person that reads it have a different feeling and belief about it. I was happy with the ending and the way each of the characters  dealt with their beliefs.
I was given this book by BookCrash for the purpose of a review but all opinions are 100% my own.
