Although I’ve always been fascinated
by the paranormal, I had never read anything in the genre until I
picked up the second book in J.R. Ward’s Back Dagger Brotherhood
series. Then I was hooked and it seemed only natural to meld my two
loves—paranormal and romantic suspense.
The idea for my
new release, VISION OF DARKNESS, came from my own unexplainable
ghostly encounters. In 2006, I was working the overnight shift in a
nursing home that all of us on the staff were convinced was haunted.
We’d hear babies crying in the middle of the night when there were
no babies anywhere in the building. We’d see shadows moving out of
the corners of our eyes, but when we turned to look, nobody was
there. The elevator had a mind of its own and one nurse even quit
after her cart moved down the hallway by itself. The strangest thing
of all—and this held true for every nursing home I’ve ever worked
in—our residents would always see children running up and down the
hallway shortly before someone passed away.
All of the weirdness at work reawakened
my interest in the paranormal and I started binge-watch anything I
could find on TV about ghosts. That was when I found Ghost Hunters on
Syfy. One episode featured the Saint Augustine, FL lighthouse, and it
was so creepy I knew I had to write a story about it. After a few
months of research into haunted lighthouses, the idea for Danger
Ledge Lighthouse and The Green Lady was born.
So do you believe in ghosts? Have you
ever had an encounter? I’d love to hear your stories!

VISION OF DARKNESS
A
beacon of light...
Undercover
DEA agent Alex Brennan doesn’t believe in the paranormal, despite
the exhausting nightmares that reveal things he shouldn’t know.
When sleep deprivation causes him to make a horrible mistake on the
job, he is driven to find answers. Dreams guide him to a lighthouse
in Three Churches, Maine, where he finds an inexplicable and
comforting familiarity in the arms of the lighthouse’s beautiful
keeper, Pru Maddox.
A
whisper of memory…
Deadly
misfortune has long plagued Pru’s family, the result of a curse
“The Green Lady” placed on the lighthouse. Skeptical, Alex
searches for less ghostly explanations, though he can’t deny that
the town has had more than its fair share of disappearances,
suicides, and accidents. As their passion simmers, Alex digs deeper,
and his dreams turn violent, frightening, and very real.
A
vision of darkness...
To
keep Pru safe, Alex must embrace his abilities and unravel the
lighthouse’s mystery. Except someone—or something—wants the
past to stay buried...and will do anything to keep it that way.
