ReplyDeleteMy first Winter memory *or at least the earliest I can remember* is when my twin sister and I threw snowballs at our Dad. But he got even and threw a hard-packed one at my nose. He didn't break it, but Mom got onto him about it and I got hot chocolate. LOL
ReplyDeleteMine is my first experience with snow. My parents took my younger brother and I to Tahoe for Christmas so we could have a white Christmas. It doesn't snow where we live. We went sledding, snow mobiling, we built a snow man, and had snowball fights. We even went on a sleigh ride. It was all very magical. And when we woke up in our hotel room on Christmas morning, we were so excited to see that Santa knew where we were staying, and left our Christmas gifts in our room. :) (Nikki Marie on rafflecopter)
ReplyDeleteI have so many great winter memories and they all revolve around snow. I guess one of my most comforting is when I was a kid and visiting my grandparents and I would come in after a long day of sledding and my grandma would put me in warm jammies in front of the big heater to watch TV with snacks. The Christmas tree was across from the heater and I loved to stare at the lights and icicles and I remember being so content.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite winter memories are of a sledding trip when I was 10 years old and we were visiting my aunt and uncle in Colorado for Christmas. That's when I first learned that grown-ups really know how to have fun!

My husband and I did not have family to be with one Christmas - they were all otherwise engaged or we couldn't get to them. So, Christmas morning we went to Mount Vernon and drank hot spiced cider and toured the site. It was so much fun and peacefull and informational!
ReplyDeleteI remember being in Middle School when we had a huge ice storm and lost power for a week. We all camped in the living room with sleeping bags and built a fire to stay warm. It was a lot of fun.

ReplyDeleteIn college, we had a terrible ice storm come through. Fortunately we were safe and snug, and afterwards the whole world glittered! We also had a week of cancelled classes, which was actually pretty nice :)

Sledding off the big hill.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid, my dad brought saucer shaped coca cola signs made of some type of metal home. We were going to go down the hill on them. It was one of those snows that had a crust on it so dad decided to go first to check it out. He went so fast and couldn't control it and almost hit a tree so decided it was too dangerous for us kids to ride so we had to go back to riding our sleds.

I have lots of winter memories, but now that I'm a mom myself, my favorites are when my kids get to have a good snow. It doesn't happen every year here, but about every other year, we get a decent snow. They love it! Those are the most precious types of memories to cherish!
