The Wait is Over: Pilot Flying J Brings Fresh Pizza to the Interstate and Offers Free Slices in Celebration of National Pizza Month

The wait is over: Pilot Flying J brings fresh pizza to the interstate and offers free slices in celebration of National Pizza Month

PJ Fresh Pizza is never frozen and ‘Unexpectedly Awesome’ with fresh ingredients

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (October 19, 2015) – Pizzeria-quality, gourmet pizza is closer to your local highway than you may think. In honor of National Pizza Month this October, Pilot Flying J is giving customers a ‘slice of the pie’ for free*. From now until Oct. 31, the largest operator of travel centers in North America will give away a free slice of PJ Fresh Pizza when customers show an online coupon available from the company’s Facebook page.

While free slices are sure to entice hungry travelers this October, it’s PJ Fresh Pizza’s quality ingredients and fresh toppings that will make the experience “Unexpectedly Awesome.” Each PJ Fresh Pizza is made with 100 percent real mozzarella cheese, and its dough is braided on-site by hand. PJ Fresh Pizzas are also prepared with a variety of toppings – from pepperoni and sausage to an array of vegetables – ensuring customers will find a recipe that meets their preference. Additionally, special limited-time recipes are often available, such as the Cordon Bleu Chicken pizza made with Alfredo sauce, Swiss cheese, chicken and ham.

“There’s a common misconception that pizza options available at convenience stores involve frozen, bland pies, but not all pizzas are created equal, and even fewer are ‘Unexpectedly Awesome,’” said Ken Parent, chief operating officer of Pilot Flying J. “Throughout this month, we invite drivers to stop by a Pilot or Flying J location and experience the pizzeria-quality of PJ Fresh Pizza for themselves free of charge with the online coupon.”

To help introduce Pilot Flying J’s quality pizza offerings, NASCAR stock car racer Michael Annett and his Pilot Flying J race team will turn the Pilot Travel Center in Lincoln, Alabama into a pit stop for customers on Thursday afternoon, Oct. 22. The race team will pump gas for cars, diesel for trucks and pass out free samples of PJ Fresh Pizza to hungry customers. Annett’s 46 Pilot Flying J Chevrolet will also be onsite, and will feature a special pizza car wrap in advance of the Fred’s 250 at the Talladega Superspeedway in Talladega, Alabama. NASCAR fans coming out to Talladega Superspeedway can also stop by the PJ Fresh Pizzeria outside of the track on Oct. 23 and Oct. 24 from 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. to enjoy free, “Unexpectedly Awesome” slices and other giveaways, including road trip gift baskets.

PJ Fresh Pizza is available at more than 250 Pilot and Flying J Travel Centers across North America.
