Joyfully Yours by Amy Lamont Guest Post and Giveaway

Synopsis: A musician and a priest walk into a grocery store—singer Faith Leary thinks this is a better opening for an off-color joke than a recipe for romance, until she finds herself ogling Father Michael in the checkout line the day before Thanksgiving. When Father Michael first steps in to bail Faith out of her financial jam, Faith thinks she’s being picked up at the grocery store. Right up until she catches sight of the black shirt and tab collar. Since not much in her life is going her way lately, it doesn’t come as much of a shock when Michael turns up at her mother’s Thanksgiving dinner. What does come as a surprise is the attraction that springs up between them. If only he weren’t a priest, he would be perfect for her. Faith’s sister finds Father Michael attractive, too, and she’s making no bones about it. Scenes from the Thorn Birds flitting through her head, it comes as a relief to Faith to find out Michael is not exactly what he seems. It’s good news until she realizes her sister is a far better match for him than her screw-up self could ever be. But if that’s true, why does Michael insist on seeing only the good in Faith, no matter how often she falls short of her too perfect sister?

3 Partners in Shopping, Nana, Mommy, & Sissy, Too!

Guest Post

Family, Shopping and Black Friday

I love that one of my very first stops on the Joyfully Yours blog tour is the 3 Partners in Shopping, Nana, Mommy, & Sissy, Too blog. Because if there are two things Faith Leary, the heroine of Joyfully Yours, has strong opinions on, it’s family and shopping.

There’s no doubt that Faith comes from a quirky family. Her mother is a little overbearing and still sets a place at the table for her long-dead husband. Her sister is constantly disapproving of Faith’s lifestyle and goes to great pains to let her know it. Faith’s brother, Frank, is her closest confidant and shares her taste in men. And her grandparents need to be separated at the Thanksgiving table so the rest of the family won’t lose their appetites at their overly amorous PDAs.

Despite all their quirks, Faith’s family shares a strong bond of love. And they play a big part in getting her to see exactly how much my hero, Michael, means to her.

Unfortunately, I can’t say that Faith shares my blog hostesses’ love of shopping. Her idea of Christmas shopping involves pajamas, a computer, and any online store that has expedited shipping two days before Christmas. Little does she know when she gets out of bed this Black Friday, she’ll get more than she ever bargained for!

Hope you enjoyed getting a little taste of Faith and Michael’s story! Deleted Scene:

When I first started writing Joyfully Yours, I didn’t realize how much my heroine wanted to tell this story. So early on, there were a few scenes told from Michael’s point of view. These scenes didn’t make it into the finished story, but I thought you might enjoy getting a little glimpse into Michael’s thoughts. Here’s what happened the first time Michael saw Faith:

Michael stood in the parking lot, leaning against the car door after the young woman took off. She’d caught his attention earlier when she’d whizzed down the canned food aisle, scanning shelves, her long hair flying out behind her. He’d almost laughed out loud when she breezed past him muttering under her breath about cranberry sauce.

When he saw her struggling at the checkout counter, he couldn’t have asked for a better opening. His gut had tightened when she turned and smiled at him. There was no mistaking the interest lighting her eyes.

Right up until she noticed his collar.

He raised his hand to his throat, fingering the white tab. He didn’t wear it often, his church wasn’t known for being strict on the dress code, but he’d been visiting an elderly member of his congregation this afternoon. He’d learned early when people were sick, they took comfort in seeing the collar.

He shook his head and took one more look over his shoulder at the spot where she stood just a few moments ago. He couldn’t help the chuckle that escaped him.

Some of his congregation might find comfort in the collar, but damn if the thing wasn’t hell on his love life.

Amy Lamont writes contemporary and New Adult romance about quirky heroines and hunky heroes. Over the years she’s had some jobs she loved (working as a program coordinator for a non-profit animal rescue), some jobs she liked (freelance writing), and some jobs she hated (her experience as a waitress has turned her into the excellent tipper she is today). 1. Such a great read! I enjoyed the quirky story of Faith and could relate to her. I'm a sucker for a love story and when you add Christmas to the mix, I'm hooked!

  2. I'm reading it right now, and can't wait to see how you get these two together! I see why it might have been necessary to remove Michael's POV even though I always love knowing what the hero is thinking.

  4. I love Black Friday. Six years ago, I moved to the Texas. I was unfamiliar with the area. I didn’t know anyone. I was fine with this, for the most part, because I was there to engage in meaningful work as an educator. But then the holidays hit.I can recall the smells, sights, sounds, and emotions that accompanied each occasion — starting with Thanksgiving. But that year, I didn’t have the money to make it home. I was longing for a sense of home and family. Luckily, a friend of mine reached out to me.She asked me if I needed a place to celebrate. Spending Thanksgiving with Vickie’s family has come to mean so much to me. After all of the Thanksgiving feast has been consumed, tables cleared, coffee served… there is a momentary calm. And then we bust out the newspapers and go scrounging for the best Black Friday deals. Their family kitchen table is a mess of “eastbay promo code 20 off”, “Buy One Get 3 Free”, and “Today ONLY” advertisements.
