STARTING OUR SEEDS FOR OUR GARDEN

This week we have started to show Bobo and Sissy how much fun it is to plant your own seeds and then replant as they grow bigger and bigger. dealsharingaunt@gmail.com Mommy's little sister gave the 2 kids little plastic greenhouses that came with seeds. One had tomatoes the other had flowers. Within a week they were touching the top of the plastic! Yesterday during a tag sale we had, we replanted them into bigger pots. They are so excited and cannot wait until it is warm enough to plant. The past few nights we  had freeze warnings.  I was excited, (but no one else was) when Daddy couldn't mow the lawn and we got to pick dandelions and we blew them to show the little seeds blow away. There are so many things in nature that we can use to teach our children.  Nature is free for all of us to enjoy whenever we want.

PARENTS NEED TO TAKE BACK OUR RIGHTS WHEN IT COMES TO OUR CHILDREN !

I am so tired and downright scared about what is happening to our precious children in our schools. Within a few weeks we have read about a 6 year old girl being handcuffed for having a tantrum! A group of kindergartners are brought to a jail (according to the kids) when the permission slips signed by the parents said something different. It was just a short time ago we learned that a school actually had a scream room where children were brought and not allowed to leave.
It makes me mad and makes me cry for these children all at the same time. We as parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, sisters, brothers and everyone else involved with our children need to say enough! What gives anyone the right to harm our children either physically or emotionally? We hear the same argument for the reason they have to do this, because parents do not discipline their children. What a joke. This is what the schools wanted years ago and even to this day when they try to teach everything but what they are supposed to teach. When they told parents that they could not discipline their children. If anyone else did these things they would be in jail.
So, what is the remedy? In my mind the remedy is for schools to teach academics and allow the parents to teach the rest. After all isn't this one of our rights under the Constitution.

TESTING CAN BE DONE WITHOUT HAVING TO PROVE YOUR IDENTITY MORE THAN ONCE

I almost didn't write about this but, after getting more and more concerned I decided I was going to. One of Mommy's sisters is very close to getting her teaching degree, yeh !!!
Yesterday she went to take one of her necessary tests and when she came home I could not believe what she told me. First she was fingerprinted , then her palm was scanned and after all that they had to empty their pockets!! She had to leave to go to the ladies room and when she came back , about 5 minutes later the same people that so her go out made her scan her palm twice because it wasn't in the same exact position. When that didn't work they asked her if she was sweating. I am appalled. The schools are asking us to entrust our most beloved possessions, our children, to our teachers, yet, the message they are sending, at least to this grandmother that they do not even trust them to take a test. What a joke! We deserve an explanation, heck. they deserve an explanation. Many years ago I served on our local board of education for 4 years. yes, I do believe in fingerprinting anyone who teaches or works with our children. I do, however, think that this is just a little too extreme. As I wrote a few days ago I am getting back to doing what I love, helping our children succeed.

BOOK REVIEW BRUSH OF ANGELS WINGS BY RUTH REID

I was able to read the book Brush of Angels Wings by Ruth Reid, a part the Heaven on Earth series. The Amish community had standards for what a bride should be. But, Rachel Hartzler certainly did not fit into their ideas. She is a field hand who is not afraid to work, a really bad cook and grieving the horrible loss of her brother.
Then she meets Jordan Engles, a man hired by her father so that Rachel could learn how to sew and cook and not spend her time in the fields. Her father hoped that this would help her find a husband. She is upset that her father really doesn't act like he wants her to help and she resents him for trying to replace her brother.Jordan's mother has passed away and he promised that he would see if he liked his Amish roots. He fully thought that this would be over soon. When she did die he came to live with his uncle Isaac. He cannot wait to leave when he finds that they attend church for 3 hours and they are too strict for his liking.
Enter Nathaniel, an angel of God, who can see that Jordan's heart and Rachel's heart surely have a chance to get together. He tries to show them the way to heal and find love along the way.
How can she bear the loss of her sister in childbirth and go on after losing her brother? How and will she be able to turn her back on her family when they seem to need her most?
This book was a very sad book. Although I love books about Amish life this was a little too sad for me. I even found myself crying while I was reading it. It was well written story and seemed to have the usual ending but, I would have liked to see a little more gladness and not so much heartbreak. I was given this book by www.booksneeze.com with no their compensation for purpose of a review. All opinions are 100% my own.

WHAT A GREAT EASTER !!!

We finally decided to have 3 different kinds of meats on Easter. We had already said that we were going to have a turkey and a ham but then Mommy and I decided to also have a roast in the CROCKPOT! Mommy and I put it in at 4:30 in the morning. Yep, it was still dark . We also cut up red potatoes and put in fresh baby carrots. We let it go until 1:30 in the afternoon. Everything was delicious. We decided to have a baked potato bar.
But then I was so excited to show off my cake ! Mommy even wrote Happy Easter on it. As soon as Mommy has time I am going to have her put a picture of my cake for everyone to see. I'll put the recipe out for all.

TRYING TO MAKE MY OWN ITALIAN RUM CAKE !!

I decided to try to make an Italian Rum Cake by myself. I know what you are thinking it will be crummy or I must be crazy. I have decided that I will make 2 yellow cake mixes. That will give me 4 layers of 9" round cakes. I bought a bottle of Rum Extract that I will put in the mix while I am making it ready to bake. I tried to get 2 big cans of pudding (chocolate and vanilla) which are used in restaurants but they are no longer being carried in the 2 wholesale clubs in our area.
So, I bought a bunch of snack puddings. I plan to make alternate layers of each. I was able to find a recipe on line for an Italian Rum Cake frosting. I hope it comes out okay. If it does we will save about $35.00. Here's hoping !!! I'll let you know how it comes out. Nana

WE SCORED DISNEY CLASSICS FOR 3 FOR $1.00

I always thought that getting videos cheap for the kids was cheaper at GOODWILL . Today I went to our local library for their booksale. I picked up a few...THE FOX AND THE HOUND, BABE, KIPPER and a few more. I thought $1.00 each were cheap. When I went to pay they said they were 3 for $1.00!!!
Woohoo! Bobo and Sissy couldn't wait to get home to watch them. I forgot how great the Disney Classics really are . I guess I will start going a lot more often.
